To understand the point of the post, scroll down. It's beneath the lyrics. Otherwise, you'll just be really confused.
Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
yeah, yeah, I know, a Goth girl who listens to the Goo Goo Dolls? Let the criticism rain! I don't care. I may be Goth, but guess what, I'm not a music snob. There is soooo much more to being Goth than the music scene. Goth is a perspective of the world and a way of life. And as one of my adult Goth friends told me, the way to know who the real Goths are, and who are the Wannabes is to go to a Goth club and wait for some mainstream music perferably rap/hiphop (they get the best results) to be played by the DJ (and yeah, they do that.) The people who snub the music, say "that's not Goth!" and walk off the dance floor are the wannabes. Those ones who are on the dance floor, singing along, dancing, and having a blast with their fellow dark-siders, those are the real Goths. okay, the singing part might be an exageration, but the dancing and having fun part isn't. Real goths listen to what they want, when they want, because guess what, they know they're goth, and anyone who tells them otherwise is ignorant. anyway, on to why I posted the song. . .
I adore this song. This was the very first music video I ever remember seeing as a kid. No, really. I was like 6 when I seen it. okay, maybe I saw Thriller first, but you get the point. I've been inlove with this song for over 10 years. The lyrics always had alot of impact on me, but now it seems to hit me harder. I don't know why. one of my fave lines is "When everything feels like the movies, yeah you bleed just to know you're alive." I love that. okay, maybe it's a super emo line, but I know what it's decribing. And I have the physical, emotional, and mental scars to prove it. And of course, who doesn't feel something when they listen to the chorus? Gods, everyone's had that feeling atleast once in their life. And I've decided it makes a great song for the Twilight Saga.
The main reason I'm posting the song, is that I'm finally getting around to putting together my "soundtrack" for my life (the working title of which is The Soundtrack to My Suicide due to my multiple suicide attempts. hey, I think it's clever anyway). I have 17 years worth of experience to try and compress into roughly 20 songs. It's definantly going to be an interesting experience! If anyone has any suggestions for songs ( you don't have to know me that well to suggest something. I tell almost anything important going on in my life on here.) let me know!
